Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round baking pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients until just mixed; avoid overmixing.
- Divide batter evenly between pans and bake for 25-30 minutes; cool completely in pans.
- For the custard, heat milk, cornstarch, sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat until thickened (5-7 minutes). Let cool slightly.
- For ganache, melt chocolate chips in the microwave; stir until smooth and let cool slightly before use.
- Assemble by placing one cake layer on a plate, spreading half the custard on top, adding the second layer, and pouring remaining ganache over it.
