- 1 cup basmati rice
- 2 cups vegetable broth
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until clear.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat olive oil. Sauté the chopped onion until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Stir in cumin seeds and toast for about one minute.
- Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan and stir for one minute.
- Pour in vegetable broth; season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from heat and let it sit covered for an additional five minutes before fluffing with a fork.
