  • 1 head green cabbage
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 cup beef broth or water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cabbage by boiling it in salted water for about 5 minutes until leaves soften. Carefully remove the core.
  2. In a bowl, combine ground beef, uncooked rice, sautéed onion, garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix well.
  3. Lay each cabbage leaf flat and place about 2 tablespoons of filling at the base. Roll tightly.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread half of the tomato sauce in a baking dish.
  5. Arrange the rolls seam-side down in the dish and cover with remaining sauce and broth until just covered.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour; remove foil for an additional 30 minutes until bubbling.
