- 1 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp unseasoned rice vinegar
- 1 tsp chili paste or flakes (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and rice vinegar until smooth.
- If desired, stir in chili paste or flakes for added heat.
- Transfer the mixture to a saucepan over medium heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Remove from heat and let cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
