Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (from about 2 large potatoes)
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Sauté the onion and carrots until soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Increase heat and add ground meat; cook until browned.
  4. Stir in peas, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Pour in beef broth and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. Boil peeled potatoes in salted water until fork-tender. Drain and mash with butter/cream until smooth.
  6. Spread meat mixture in a baking dish; top with mashed potatoes. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
