Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- Sea salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices American cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat a griddle or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
- Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and roll into loose balls.
- Season each ball generously with salt and pepper just before cooking.
- Place one ball on the hot surface and smash it down firmly to about half an inch thick. Repeat for remaining balls.
- Cook each patty for three minutes without moving them to form a crust.
- Flip the patties and add cheese if desired, cooking for another minute until melted.
- Serve on buns with your choice of toppings.
